Sunless tanning lotion

There is a huge market out there offering sunless tanning lotion as an alternative to exposing your skin to ultraviolet rays. Presumably you foun this web page because you wanted to get a beautiful, glowing, natural looking tan but don't want to take your chances with sun bathing or going to the tanning salon? You've got plenty of selections to choose from!

As the name implies, sunless lotion is a sun care product that allows your skin to darken without the assistance of actual UV rays. In the past, most such lotions appeared fake and many suffered from the unfortunate “orange” tan. Even celebrities ended up falling prey to this trend. The good news is that since then, manufacturers have worked hard to develop formulas that offer better results for a more natural tanned appearance.

The main ingredient that makes all sunless tanning lotions work is known as DHA, which is short for “dihydroxyacetone.” This fancy-sounding ingredient is a colorless sugar that triggers a change in the color of the skin's dead skin cells on the epidermis (outer layer of skin). More advanced formulas allow the ingredients to create a tanned shade that works with the skin's natural pigments, avoiding the orange effect. The more applications used, the darker the tan will become. Once you reach the desired shade, simply stop using the lotion and your new golden tan will last for about one week before eventually fading back to your original skin tone.

You can find a good sunless tanning lotion at any store or online. Be sure to read the label and find a formula that contains not only DHA but also special moisturizers and antioxidants, which will keep your skin properly hydrated and full of nutrients, such as vitamin E and aloe vera. Also check to see that the product you want will work well with your skin type.
